Brandon Lewis is the Washington Bureau’s Manager for Education and Health Policy. He began his career as an educator in Houston, TX where he focused his efforts on developing a culturally responsive classroom in which students were intellectually challenged and culturally embraced. In his current role he relies on his classroom experience to support the work of state and local leaders committed to advancing equity in education and eliminating health disparities.
Prior to joining NUL, Brandon was Regional Organizing Director with Hillary for America, serving the South Carolina and Florida organizing teams. As a community organizer, he worked with local grassroots leaders and activists to build coalitions, expanding voting access, and build neighborhood teams. Previously he was a Congressional Black Caucus Foundation Intern with Congressman Hank Johnson (GA-4) and a Public Policy and International Affairs Fellow at the University of California, Berkeley.
Brandon holds a Bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from Columbia University.
