Kezmiché “Kim” Atterbury serves as Senior Director of Communications and External Affairs at the National Urban League. In this role, Kim leads all communications strategy for the Washington Bureau and serves as an advisor to the Senior Vice President for Policy and to National Urban League president and CEO. In addition, Kim manages external affairs and partnership opportunities for the Washington Bureau.
Previously, Kim worked as a senior communications strategist at West End Strategy Team, where she provided communications and digital counsel to clients in the areas of branding, crisis management, media relations, public affairs and issue management. Prior to WEST, Kim served as Director of Communications to Rep. G.K. Butterfield (NC-01) during his tenure as vice-chair and chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. Before that she served as Communications Director to Rep. Eleanor Holmes Norton (DC).
Kim began her career in Congress in 2002 as a Legislative Assistant to Rep. Alcee Hastings (FL-20). Following Hastings’ office, Kim became Chief Legislative Aide and Press Secretary to former Florida State Senator M. Mandy Dawson. In 2007, Kim left Dawson's office to work in the State of Georgia Governor’s office as a Senior Policy Analyst, managing state budgets and appropriations before returning to Capitol Hill in 2010.
Kim is a graduate of Georgetown University’s Master of Public Relations and Corporate Communications program, where she is also a part-time adjunct faculty member. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration from the H. Wayne Huizenga School of Business and is also a proud alumna of Florida A&M University.
